Design Narrative

Superior Ink sits on the former site of the Superior Ink printing factory — an industrial past that RAMSA honored in the tower's brick and arched window vocabulary. The building reads as both new and historically rooted: the light orange brick and rusticated stone base belong in the West Village.

Yabu Pushelberg's interiors are understated and material-forward. The bleached wenge cabinetry is dark enough to be dramatic but with a warmth that lacquer cannot achieve. The white quartzite countertop creates a strong light-dark contrast. The Viking range specification (rather than Miele or Gaggenau) signals a more traditional cooking approach.

The seven Bethune Street townhouses are architecturally distinct from the tower: separate brick structures with stoops, private gardens, and roof decks. Each townhouse has its own elevator with direct access to the building's amenity floor. The LEED Silver certification (2009) means owners are highly receptive to sustainable material choices and green renovation approaches.

Design Opportunities
  • Bleached wenge kitchen is from 2009 — primary renovation opportunity; white quartzite is a strong base
  • Morado wood herringbone floors are distinctive but rare — refinishing vs. replacement is key early decision
  • Viking range can be upgraded to Miele/Gaggenau/Wolf without structural change — easy contemporary upgrade
  • LEED-certified building + West Village client base = high receptivity to sustainable material choices
  • Bethune Street townhouses: vertical living design with private gardens — full programming per floor
  • Five-fixture primary suites signal clients who invest in personal space quality
